How to Install a Wireless Smart Scene Switch

Wiring Installation of a Wireless Smart Scene Switch for Controlling Four Lighting Scenes

What is Wireless Smart Scene Switch?

A wireless smart scene switch is a modern lighting control device that allows you to activate multiple preset lighting “scenes” with a single touch. Instead of controlling one light at a time, it lets you group lights, dimmers, or outlets into customized settings (such as “movie night” or “evening mode”) and switch between them instantly. This improves both convenience and the overall lighting experience in a home.

The adorne® wireless smart scene switch (WNACB40) with Netatmo by Legrand is powered by 3V battery and operates without traditional wiring. It uses wireless communication to connect with a smart lighting system. The switch works with a dedicated smart gateway and uses a mesh network to ensure reliable performance across larger homes. It integrates with a mobile app, allowing users to easily create, modify, and manage lighting scenes from a smartphone or tablet.

The device is designed for flexible installation in just few minutes. It can be mounted on any wall without tools or electrical connections, making it ideal for retrofits or multi-location control. The device is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and other home automation systems. Therefore, the wireless smart scene switch is a perfect choice for smart lighting control in residential and commercial spaces.

The smart scene warless switch can be pair with other wired and wireless smart devices by adorne with Netatmo such as smart switches, dimmers and outlets.

Good to Know:

Wiring a Wireless Smart Scene Switch

A wireless smart scene switch is a battery-powered controller used to operate multiple smart lighting scenes without physical wiring to the load. It communicates via RF with a gateway or smart devices.

In the following wiring tutorial, we will show how to wire a 1-gang wireless smart scene controller with four switches in a single unit for 120V AC lighting circuits.

Before installation, turn OFF power at the main breaker (even though device is wireless, this is required for safety when working near boxes or installing in an existing box instead of mounting on the wall.) When mounting the switch, maintain minimum 90 mm distance from the body for RF compliance.

Installation in Electrical Box

In installation of 1-gang box, remove the ground wire label from the back. Connect the ground wire to the box ground using wire nut.
Cap any unused wires inside the box. Finally, place the device frame over the box and secure using mounting screws

If installing in multi-gang box, remove device from its frame and replace with adorne multi-gang frame. Insert device into new frame  and fix using frame mounting screws.

Wall Surface Installation

If mounting directly on the wall (no box involved), adhesive mounting is preferred for smooth surfaces such as tiles. To do so, use the provided double-sided adhesive strips.

In case of rough surfaces, heavy or metal wall plates, adhesive mounting is not recommended. Instead, use screw mounting. In this case, use drywall screws into stud or drywall anchors if studs are not used. stud are used.

In case of frame and wall plate installation, Remove spacers from the frame (not always required) and attach device to frame. Snap wall plate onto frame and adjust using 3 click-stop positions for proper alignment.

Powering, Paring and System Setup

The device uses pre-installed “CR2032” 3V lithium battery. For setup, remove the battery insulation tab to power the switch. To pair with system, install the Legrand Home + Control app and follow app instructions to connect to home network or pair with gateway, add scene controller and other smart devices. The scenes can be configured in  Settings > Scenes.

For manual pairing (without network), Press gateway EZ button for 5 seconds. When LED becomes solid green,
press any button on the scene switch.

LED will blink green then turn OFF. Press gateway EZ button again briefly until all LEDs turn OFF. The paring is complete.

For smart lighting control, follow this step-by-step guide for the Netatmo system to select your gateway, primary device, and add-on devices.

To enable Amazon Alexa, Google Home Voice Control Integration or or voice assistance to create scene for adorne & radiant® With Netatmo, follow this setup guide for automation.

LED indicator indicates different states of the wireless smart scene switch i.e.

To reset the switch to factory default, press and hold the EZ button for 10 seconds. Wait until the LED starts blinking red. Then release the EZ button; the LED will turn OFF, which indicates that the reset is complete.
