As i mentioned ,This is a simple electrical interview question. So if some one ask this question in interview or somewhere..then the right answer will be this….I think u got the main Idea

As we know that Transformer works only on A.C, in case of D.C Supply, the primary of transformer may start to smoke and burn….But this is the only one condition where we can operate a Transformer on D.C (although the Circuit is Useless)…For more information….in the above blog…U will see a post where we talked about the topic…..1 Transformer primary with A.C supply, 2.   1. If we give dc supply to transformer with high series resistance. Then the transformer output will be ac or dc?

  2. Another case is also possible if we supply very low DC voltage I.e almost one tenth of rated value then transformer will not going to burn because than it draw very low current and that current will going to bear by the transformer resistor.

    And as per the answer of question what is the output if we supply DC since due to DC inductor act as short ckt there is no magnetisation of primary and therefore no flux will going to produce by primary so there is linkage of flux with secondary winding so there is no output

    I what when the DC supply is given to transformers some stress in the winding or coil .how much stress in the winding in practical
